While working on setting up one of our demo sites, we faced a small problem. The image we were trying to upload was too big and we got this error instead:
Luckily, there’s a setting in WordPress that allows user with super admin role to change the upload size limit in WordPress. Please bear in mind that this setting is only available to WordPress with Multisite installation.
To increase the upload size limit, go to Network Settings page. To access this page, make sure you’ve first open the Network Admin dashboard.
Next, you’ll see an option to change the max upload file size. The default value is 1500kb which is equivalent to 1.5mb. While this option gives super admin flexibility to change the upload size limit, make sure that you don’t allow a very large size to be uploaded to your site. Remember, you don’t want your users to consume too much of your hosting disk space as it will cost you money.
For normal WordPress installation, you won’t see this setting. This tutorial is part of our tutorial on WordPress Multisite. We’re already plan to write WordPress Multisite tutorials more often so make sure to subscribe to our RSS, like our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter and Google+ to get updated.
