WordPress is secure. However, the use of bad plugin and theme might risk your website. No one knows what will happen to his website. Therefore, it’s a good practice to always backup your website on daily basis. For most blog, daily backups should be fine. However, if you have a large website with many new articles per day, I recommend to backup more often, perhaps for every 12 or 6 hours.
Most good companies provide free backups for your blog on daily basis. If your hosting does not provide this service, you really need to find one.
VaultPress, another great product by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, just announced a new Lite Plan for their customers. VaultPress is a paid service that provide backup and restoration service, daily security scan and review any security threats on your website.
In the recent article, the VaultPress team said that the Lite Plan is catered for small-size blog or someone who just started blogging. This new package comes with these three basic features:
- Daily backups
- One-click restore
- 30 days of saved backup
Priced at $5 per month, I think it’s very affordable for every blogger. If you have a bigger website and want more features, VaultPress also has Basic and Premium plans, priced at $15 and $40 per month per site, respectively. For detailed features of those plans, please refer to the Plans and Pricing page.

Hmmm… it is still $5 😉
But if your site brings you money then I guess it is quite cheap 😉

Yes, probably not cheap for all people. This is just an alternative. If you use a hosting from a good company, they usually provide this for free. So you do not need to spend any single penny 😀
