How To Redirect Users After Comment

Aug 6th, 2013

thank you

Have you ever came across a website that after leaving your first comment on one of the articles, you’ll be redirected to another page? I bet you do.

I believe some internet marketers are using this trick to encourage users to sign up for their newsletter. Furthermore, you could thank them for leaving the comment. Besides the sign up form, the page usually contains lots of information that will be beneficial to the readers.

To redirect users after comment, all you need to do is to install and activate Comment Redirect plugin. It’s another free plugin by Yoast, the creater of best SEO plugin for Wordress, WordPress SEO.

Once activated, you’ll see new submenu under Plugins for the Comment Redirect plugin settings page. On this settings page, you’ll be able to choose any page from the dropdown to where the users will be redirected to after leaving comment on your site.

Yoast’s plugin is okay, but my main complaint with it is that you can only set it to redirect users once. I found this to be pretty strange. Of course, it makes sense that you wouldn’t want to keep redirecting people to a sign-up form once they’ve already refused once. However, that’s not the only use that the plugin could serve! Out of frustration, I found a way more comprehensive plugin. I don’t want to spam here, but if you want to check it out for your site, it’s called Comment Redirect with Popup (http://www.commentredirect.com), and it has a very good set of features. I actually don’t use the redirect function on my sites, because they have a popup that serves my needs for the plugin in the first place.

      Hi,

Yeah, we also noticed the same issue with the plugin.
Thanks for suggesting another plugin. Are you the developer? We’re thinking of contacting the developer in hope of to get a review copy of the plugin.

I have spoken to support, before they did the social networking plugins, and they seemed really friendly. So I don’t see the harm in asking for a review copy; I know it’s a fairly new plugin so you might be in luck. All the best!

    Hi Rudd,

Unfortunately we don’t see any emails from you but… we did see that you used the demo if you like you can email us at support@commentredirect.com so we can talk further about a review. We just finalized some social network integration that takes the plugin to another level.
