Whenever I want to open a comment author link, I will make sure to open it a new tab so I can continue reading the article without leaving the current view. However, it’s a bit frustrating when I forgot to hold the CTRL button (for Windows) while clicking the left button in my mouse, causing the comment author link to open in my current view.
Turn out with this little snippet, I can set all comment author links to be open in new tab. No more going back and forth in case I forgot to open the link in new tab.
Simply put the snippet above in functions.php
of your child theme, or even better, in functionality plugin. Hat tip to Pixert.com for the snippet. The code has been tested and proved to be working perfectly by our team but if you’ve any problem, feel free to drop your comment below.
What an awesome tip, you may know this as you a technical guy, but readers won’t know the author links will open on the same page so they might not even come back, this tip is indeed very handy.
I’m a meticulous guy, so small things like this really annoyed me. We probably add this feature in our future theme for our site
Even you are not using this, is there any SEO impact?
