Using One-Time Password in WordPress

UPDATED: Apr 16th, 2013

If you’re a Hotmail user, you might notice a feature called One-Time Password. This is a future introduced by the Hotmail team to help users protect their account when accessing their email account in public.

When using public WiFi, there are many security precautions can be taken to prevent someone from sneaking your private data such as username and password. Besides using VPN (Virtual Private Network) to secure your connection on public network, using One-Time Password is another good practice and highly recommended.

Imagine you’re using your laptop in public or using a public desktop (it can be from cyber cage, library or your office, someone might put keylogger to record you key stroke). When using One-Time Password, the password you use can only be used once. So no matter if the theft got your password, he can’t use it to break your account.

Luckily, there is a WordPress plugin to allow you to enable the same feature.

Introducing One-Time Password plugin.

Once activated, you will be able to create a list of one-time password to be used whenever you want to log in your account in Public. According to the author, this plugin conforms to RFC 2289 of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

So, go ahead and install the plugin to be able to update your blog anywhere without have to worry anything.
