Few days ago, we published a simple tutorial on embedding Google Maps in your WordPress site. Google Map isn’t the only service that provide free maps and there are alternatives to it such as Yahoo Maps and Bing Maps. In today’s tutorial, we’ll show you how to embed Bing maps in your WordPress site.
The Native Way
Similar to Google Maps, Bing also provides an embed code to embed the maps in your WordPress site. Once you’ve found your location, click the Share button located on top right corner of the screen.
Then, simply copy the code highlighted as shown in the image below. If you wish to customize the map, hit the Customize and Preview button.
Using WordPress Plugin
If you prefer to use WordPress plugin over the native way, there’s a free plugin available called Bing Maps.
Once you’ve activated the plugin, you need to enter Bing Secret Key. Go to the plugin’s settings page and enter your key there. You may create a secret key from Bing Maps Account Center website.
To display the map anywhere on your page or post, there’s a [bingmaps-map] shortcode. You may specify the location using coordinate. The shortcode also accepts lots of optional parameters to specify size of the map, zoom level, add pushpin and type of map. Please see the FAQ page for more info.
Camp Scope says
Am I insane or stupid, or has Bing changed/discontinued their native option? I click share, but all I get is http://imgur.com/OlxiMar I prefer Bing to Google, but I’m not spending an hour figuring it out every time I go back.
