Last weekend, I had a chance to do some maintenance work on my personal WordPress site. I haven’t done anything on my personal blog for few months and as expected, there were lots of spam comments. However, instead of going into the spam folder, most of the comments were sent to the ‘pending’ folder.
In the spam folder, you might notice there’s a button that allows you to delete all spam comments in one click. Unfortunately, for the pending folder, no such button is available and thus, leaving me with no option other than have to manually delete them. After few minutes of deleting them, then I realize that there must be a plugin available for thid task.
I was lucky to found this little plugin called Delete Pending Comments.
The plugin only adds a very simple UI. You’ll find the link under Comments menu.
Then, from the plugin settings page, you have to retype the texts given in the text field below it or simply copy and paste the texts. This is a simple verification to verify that you agree to delete all pending comments on your site. Once all of the pending comments have been successfully deleted, you’ll see a message on top of the page.
Next, go to your Comments page and you should see there’s no pending comments on your site. Furthermore, I also noticed that the plugin will also delete all spam comments. I found this little plugin to be very useful and really recommend it to my readers. If you’d like to request any specific WordPress tutorial, feel free to contact us.

This isn’t the best solution. If there are more than few thousand entries, WP will simply give an error. There are few SQL querries that can do the job without hitting the error. Same think apply for junk folder.
