Archive page is a page that shows your most recent posts in a list-style. It is like a reader-friendly sitemap of your site, so readers can easily see most important links on your site like list of categories, authors, pages, monthly archive and recent posts.
Fortunately, for Genesis Framework users, Genesis has already this archive template. However, it’s not so obvious where you can enable it. This is also the same page you’ll see on your 404 error page. Here’s the final result you will get:
Let’s create one for your site.
1. Create a new page - In your dashboard, go to Pages > Add New.
2. Give a title to your page. In this example, I use “Archive” as the page title.
3. From the right side of your screen, you’ll see a metabox for page attributes. This is where you can choose the Archive template from the dropdown.
4. Publish it. Click the Preview button to see you archive page.
This is pretty much very basic thing. By default, it will show about 100 most recent posts. I know that’s too much. In another article, I’ll show how we can customize or edit the archive page so it’ll be more useful.
