One of great things about WordPress is it open source and highly extensible, which means other developers can easily create some cool stuffs around it. With that in mind, it’s a common thing that you can easily find many WordPress plugins that have almost exact same features. For example, if you’re looking for a plugin to add social sharing button to your site, you can easily find hundreds of plugins to do this from WordPress plugin repo.
However, for big plugins like WooCommerce, Easy Digital Download, Pods and Advance Custom Fields that have lots of functionality, it’s hard to decide which one of the plugins is very suitable for your site. Deciding which plugin to be used in greatly important because it will become the major part of your site. Wouldn’t it be nice if there are tables of comparisons where you can easily compare the features of popular eCommerce, Custom Type/Custom Field, SEO few other categories?
Introducing Comparewp.org.
It’s your one-stop center where you can easily see comparisons of some popular WordPress plugins. This website is an initiative by @scottkclark and @mgibbs189 and we’re pretty sure this site could be very useful to help users decide which plugins they should use on their sites.
Currently there are only 5 categories - Content Type / Custom Fields, eCommerce, SEO, Multilingual and User Registration / Login - and they’ve planned to add more categories as well as plugins to the list. Personally, I wish to see Forms, Cache and Backup plugins categories to be added to the site.
