Add Newsletter Subscribe Form in Genesis Framework

Since Genesis 1.9, few default widgets that come with Genesis Framework have been deprecated. These widgets are “eNews & Updates” and “Latest Tweets” widgets. The eNews and Updates widget is the newsletter subscribe form that can be used to encourage readers to sign up for your newsletter.

As an alternative to the eNews and Updates plugin, you can install Genesis eNews Extended plugin.

This is how the plugin looks like in Modern Portfolio theme, one of the latest Genesis Child Themes:

It is more robust and has more features. Currently the plugin already support few newsletter services such as Mailchimp and Aweber. If you are using Feedburner or other feed services such as Feedblitz, you are good to go with this plugin.

1. Install and activate the plugin.

2. Open the Widgets page. Go to Appearance > Widgets.

3. Look for Genesis - eNews Extended widget and drag it to the primary sidebar, alternatate sidebar or any other locations as you wish.

If you’re have already use the default eNews & Updates plugin, installing the Genesis eNews Extended plugin will overwrite the widget’s settings of the default plugin. I highly recommend using this plugin since the default plugin that comes with Genesis Framework will eventually be removed in future version.

  1. I have used custom code rather than a plugin.

    • Hi angelo,

This plugins was specifically developed for Genesis Framework users. I’m pretty sure there are few plugins for this functionality can be found in the WordPress plugin repo.
