Add Floating Social Sharing Buttons to Website

Besides Search Engine Optimization (SEO), there is no doubt social network is another great source to increase traffic to your website. For example, a user might find that your article is useful, so he decided to share your article in his Facebook wall. Then, few of his friends noticed it and click on the link, thus bring another visitors to your website. Similarly, if the new visitors find that your article is worth sharing, they’ll do the same thing.

One of the tips to encourage people to share your articles to their social profile is by making it easier for them to share your article. In other words, put the social sharing buttons in the right place!

Today I’m going to share a way to add a floating social sharing buttons to your website. Personally, I prefer to use the floating buttons since it looks more elegance plus users do not have to scroll back to the top or bottom of the post just to click on the buttons. The buttons will follow them as they scroll to the bottom of the article. Isn’t that cool?

To add the floating social buttons, you I recommend you to install DiggDigg plugin. This is the plugin I’m currently using at WPSpeak as you can see at the left side of this post

.

1. Install the DiggDigg plugin.

2. You can configure the plugin from the plugin’s settings page. In the dashboard, you’ll see the DiggDigg menu somewhere at the bottom.

3. Hover on the menu and you’ll see links for global configurations, normal display, floating display and manual placement.

4. Yes, if you do not wish to make it float, you can also put the social buttons before or after the post. From the settings page, you will be able to set your twitter username, select which services you want to use (Facebook, Twitter, G+ etc) and even set where the buttons will appear (post, page, archive etc).
