WordPress 3.8 has just arrived few days ago.

WordPress 3.8 comes with new, modern-looking admin design. However, if you used MP6 plugin before, this isn’t something new. The new design is also responsive, so it’ll still look great on your mobile device.

Interestingly, the new design also comes with 6 different color schemes. To change the default color scheme, go to Users > Your Profile.

Personally, I don’t see what the big deal is about admin color schemes. The emphasis in WP 3.8 is all about the back end experience. I do only what is necessary to maintain the site and get posts up - I don’t hang out in the admin area.
Do others think this is exciting?

I spend a lot of time working with the admin area, so yes, it is to me. Not sure I’m totally sold on the available colour schemes though. Will have to try others.

I don’t like the new admin look or available color scheme. To name a few reason why I don’t like the new look, I think the colors are too bright, font is hard to read specially when you move the cursor over the menu name and it turns blue etc. Also I’ve used wp as the cms for several client projects and have trained them to use the wp admin panel to post new content to their websites. Once I update their website to newest version there sure to ask why I changed the look so much when they didn’t request a change.

    Take a look at http://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/grey-admin-color-schemes

Their Modern Grey Colour Scheme fits the bill for me.
